A Day Trip To Herceg Novi, Montenegro

(Clock tower in the Old Town of Herceg Novi)
Herceg Novi, located on the northernmost tip of the Montenegro coastline, is a town filled with lots of beautiful scenery, from the coastline to the town itself. I had the pleasure of spending a week in Baosici, a suburb of Herceg Novi, with my love during the holidays. During our stay, we visited the towns of Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, and Budva. In this post I will focus only on Herceg Novi, as each town has something of its own to offer to visitors.
TIP: If traveling by car, be sure to park your car somewhere a bit outside of the touristy areas for the best rates, as rates closer to the old town are quite high.

As we were there during the holidays, most of the streets, and especially the main square, were decorated with beautiful decorations. The weather and time of year was perfect for site seeing as it was not too cold and not too hot, and there weren’t many tourists (in comparison to the numbers Montenegro sees during the summer months). The only downside was that there were not as many shops and attractions open, such as the entrance to the fortress.

The Old Town does not take very long to visit. While there, be sure to snap some photos along one of the many beautiful lookout points over the Adriatic Sea that the town has to offer.

After walking around the Old Town, be sure to walk down the hill and take a walk along the Adriatic Sea. Along the coastline, you will be able to find a number of restaurants, shops, cafes, and artists.

If you are hungry, be sure to make a stop at Restaurant Konoba Skver, located across from the clock tower shown above. Here you will find some of the best deals for seafood in the Old Town. My recommendation would be “Girice” (Smelts). There was a deal when we were there where we got fish stew (absolutely delicious), smelts, and ice cream for 4.50 Euros.

And if you are there with the one you love, be sure to hang around the seaside to catch a beautiful sunset over the Adriatic Sea. You won’t regret it!

Happy Travels Everyone!
